At the General Meeting for the British Association for Korean Studies in London on 9 September 2016, the Association decided to re-launch Papers of the British Association for Korean Studies (BAKS Papers) as the European Journal of Korean Studies.

The new name better reflects the existing breadth of the editorial board as well as the extensive range of submissions that result from expanded offerings on Korean Studies across the European continent, including Great Britain. Using our experience gained in publishing the BAKS Papers over the last 25 years, we are delighted to relaunch as a Europe-wide journal dedicated to Korean Studies.

BAKS Papers has been blind, peer-reviewed since volume 15, and the European Journal of Korean Studies will carry on being blind, peer-reviewed. The new Journal will be published twice a year, rather than just annually. It will be the only English-language journal in Europe devoted to the broad field of Korean Studies and will become the show-case journal for the outstanding work on Korea being done in Europe.
